Tetra Tech’s Amy Gildea explains how an understanding of the social economy, politics, and culture in Papua New Guinea (PNG) is crucial to improving health outcomes on the island in the Western Pacific. In this post, Amy, the managing director of international development, Asia Pacific for Coffey, a Tetra Tech Company, explains that health and development programs need to be designed smarter and in a way that considers all the drivers of change.

PNG has historically been of key strategic importance for Australia. As the country’s closest neighbor, PNG has represented a key line of defense by maintaining a social and political balance between Australia and the South Pacific region. As a result, successive Australian governments have attempted to support—through financial, social, and other schemes—the development, advancement, and stability of PNG’s political systems, society,

The Benefits Of Adaptogens For Improving Sleep And Reducing Stress

Deadlines are constantly bearing down on you, your friends are having meltdowns, the neighbors seem to be having a party every night, and, oh, you’re out of toilet paper. Meanwhile, your heart’s racing and you can’t focus even if your life depended on it. It seems like stress and sleeplessness are now constant companions. Before you reach for a comfort cronut or guzzle that fourth cup of coffee, there’s another way to deal with the pressure — adaptogens.

Adaptogens can help your body adapt to life’s most stressful times. These supplements contain herbs that aid the body in reacting to or recovering from both short- and long-term physical or mental stress. Some also boost immunity and overall well-being. Research shows adaptogens can combat fatigue, enhance mental performance, reduce depression and anxiety, and help you thrive rather than just struggle along.

How do adaptogens suppress stress?

U.S. stocks, crude jump on revived stimulus hopes, Trump’s improving health

NEW YORK (Reuters) – U.S. stocks closed sharply higher and crude prices surged Monday as renewed optimism surrounding stimulus negotiations and news of President Donald Trump’s health progress helped calm investor anxiety.

U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin continued talks toward a bipartisan agreement on a new pandemic relief package. That revived hopes for a new round of stimulus more than two months after emergency unemployment benefits expired for millions of Americans.

“This probably is a bit of a relief rally,” said Chuck Carlson, chief executive officer at Horizon Investment Services in Hammond, Indiana. “Two weeks ago there wasn’t much hope and now there’s a growing consensus that stimulus could pass before the election.”

“That seems to be where the market is leaning right now.”

Trump’s physician, Dr. Sean Conley, announced late in the session that the president has met or exceeded all standard criteria to

Trump Signals Improving Health With Appearance For Supporters

US President Donald Trump waved at supporters from a motorcade Sunday on a short drive outside the hospital where he was being treated for Covid-19.

The outing came minutes after the president had announced “a surprise” for fans, and it appeared designed to personally take back the narrative on his improving health after a weekend of confused and contradictory messaging from the White House and Trump’s medical team.

Trump Improving, Could Be Discharged Monday: Doctors

US President Donald Trump has “continued to improve” as he is treated for Covid-19, his doctors said Sunday, revealing he could be discharged as early as Monday.

His medical team said his oxygen levels had dropped twice briefly in recent days and he is being treated with steroids, but they gave an upbeat assessment of the 74-year-old president’s health and outlook.

“Since we spoke last, the president has continued to improve. As with any illness, there are frequent ups and downs over the course,” said Trump’s physician Sean Conley.

Conley said the president was flown to Walter Reed military medical center on Friday after a “rapid progression” of his illness, with his oxygen levels dropping worryingly low.

He received supplementary oxygen at the White House before being admitted.

Brian Garibaldi, another of Trump’s doctors, said the president had been “up and around” and was feeling well.

Doctors say Trump on steroid therapy, health improving after brief ‘episodes’

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump’s medical team said Sunday in a press conference that Trump’s conditions were improving after multiple “episodes” over the weekend and he was placed on a steroid therapy typically used with more severe Covid-19 cases.

“Since we spoke last, the president has continued to improve. As with any illness, there are frequent ups and downs over the course particularly when a patient is so closely watched,” said Dr. Sean Conley, a White House physician.

Dr. Sean Dooley said that Trump has remained without a fever since Friday morning and that his vital signs are stable. Trump could be discharged from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center as soon as Monday, the doctors said.

Trump’s doctors said that the president was on dexamethasone, the steroid used for the sickest Covid-19 patients. The medical team said the president took his first dose of the drug on Saturday and

Trump COVID update: President improving from coronavirus, but not ‘out of the woods’ yet, doctor says

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump went through a “very concerning” period Friday and faces a “critical” next two days in his fight against COVID-19 at a military hospital, his chief of staff said Saturday – in contrast to a rosier assessment moments earlier by Trump doctors, who took pains not to reveal the president had received supplemental oxygen at the White House before his hospital admission.

Trump remained at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Sunday. He offered his own assessment of his status Saturday evening in a video from his hospital suite, saying he was beginning to feel better and hoped to “be back soon.”
